Pasture is a feature class in the Range Management Unit (RMU) data set. It represents the area boundaries of pastures within livestock grazing allotments.
Designates boundaries to establish extent of livestock distribution and management within pastures. This is a published layer created by combining GIS data managed by each National Forest and attribute data stored in the Forest Service Infra database application. This dataset is designed for reporting and analysis and is not used to enter or edit data.

Forest Service Manual 2200
Data quality checks are performed on spatial features and table records. Spatial features having the same unique identifier (CN) along with those spatial features that do no have a matching table record are also recorded. Similarly, those table records that do not have a matching spatial feature are also recorded in the log.
Only those region forests that have designated their pasture boundaries as spatial features to be included in the national dataset are part of the S_USA.Pasture feature class. For each forest, pasture spatial features that have the same unique identifier, CN, are removed. Spatial features that don't have a matching record in the pasture INFRA table are also removed. Pasture feature class table will contain records without geometry, these are pasture INFRA table records for which a matching spatial feature does not currently exist.
Generally the source information used to record spatial locations are from: 1) on-screen digitizing with a georeferenced topographic or image background; or 2) GPS field collected positions.
Pasture feature class is refreshed daily. An automated routine searches through a source table to identify those forests that want their data to be included in the national dataset. The routine then copies the identified forest data into a staging environment, where the regional spatial datasets are merged to form a national spatial dataset. Before the merge the routine also saves a copy of the pasture INFRA table in the staging environment. The national spatial dataset is then joined with the INFRA table. Those spatial features that have the same unique identifier, CN, and those spatial features for which a matching table record is not found are deleted, before the Pasture dataset is published to the production environment.
