Abstract:
Aboveground live forest biomass for the island of Puerto Rico in units of Metric tons per hectare dry weight. Model uses only plots with 4 subplots forested (N=53). Forest defined by forest/nonforest map with classification model that defined forest as plots with 1, 2, 3 or 4 subplots forested (N=165). Model average error 32.2 Mg/ha, average relative error 0.51, correlation coefficient 0.92. Model error as estimated by 10-fold cross validation is 65 Mg/ha, relative absolute error is 1.02 and model correlation coefficient is 0.29.

List of layers used and references provided in excel file "layers_usedxscale.xls". Biomass estimates use a combination of equasions referenced in unpublished manuscript by T. Brandeis and include dry forest equation in Brown et al. 1989, moist forest equation in Brown et al. 1989 that includes height, and second wet forest equation in Weaver and Gillespie 1992.
